The article I chose to read for my third paper is called “The Math Behind Beauty,” and is about how view of beauty have been changed over the years. It also goes to discuss what the “perfect” ratio of the face would look like according to a so-called golden ratio. I would like to incorperate this article into my argument by adding how peoples main concerns of beauty have changed over the years and how societies view of beauty affect peoples thoughts about themselves. I think this article could add a great amount of support for my paper seeing as it has many good quotes to use.
Syris – I plan to work with this interview because I think that our professor has such an amazing and refreshing perspective on beauty. There was one specific thing she said that stuck with me along the lines of “beauty is something that lifts you out of reality.” That is something that just really struck me and I knew I wanted to use that quote somehwere in my paper. I also thought the fact that she compared beauty with pain was pretty amazing to me. It really made me ponder my own thoughts of beauty and inspired me to want to write more about that (possibly?)
Liam – I plan to work with this interview as well because I just thought this was such a powerful and moving interview. I loved how his mother saw beauty as a tranformation within a person and it just struck a nerve in me. The fact that his mothers client’s beauty was covered by the ugly in her life, and removing the ugly made her really shine was just such a happy moment for me and I wasn’t even there. I feel like it was such an awesome moment for his mother to see that and I just thought she had some awesome quotes in there too.
I think that talking about the way that society views beauty is very smart. Many people only see beauty the way society tells them to and I think it is important to detach from that. I feel that another podcast you could use would be deidras since her friend Rudy thought his most beautiful moment was with his car. This shows how big cars are in society and how they can affect your view of beauty since it is something you strive for.
I like how you are showing the shift in beauty oner the yeas. It’s a very interesting perspective and is very cool to think about. I think a podcast you could use is Ryan’s because it is a different perspective of how beauty changed. How a different society sees beauty compared to us. I like your topic and I’m looking forward to reading it!
